Forward Speed Count

Most manufacturers have their own nomenclature within their part numbering system that will allow you to identify how many forward speeds a transmission has. Follow the guidelines below.
 
EATON/FULLER

The last, 2 digit, number identifies the number of forward speeds.
T14607B = 7 speed
FRO16210C = 10 speed
RTLO16913A = 13 speed
All possible forward speeds: 02, 05, 06, 07, 09, 10, 11, 13, 15, 18
 
MACK

200 series: The middle, 2 digit, number identifies the number of forward speeds.
300 series: The last, 2 digit, number identifies the number of forward speeds.
T2060 = 6 speeds
T318L = 18 speeds
All possible forward speeds: 05, 06, 07, 09, 10, 13, 18
 
MERITOR/ROCKWELL

Platform G 9, 10 Speeds: The last, 2 digit, number identifies the number of forward speeds.
RM Series 9, 10, 13 Speeds: The first, 2 digit, number identifies the number of forward speeds.
MO16G10AM = 10 speeds
RMO13145A = 13 speeds
All possible forward speeds: 09, 10, 13
 
SPICER/TTC

The last number identifies the number of forward speeds.
ES565A = 5 speeds
ESO667b = 7 speeds
PSO1509A = 9 speeds
All possible forward speeds: 05, 07, 09, 10, 18
 
GM/MUNCIE

The first, single digit, number identifies the number of forward speeds.
SM465 = 4 speeds
All possible forward speeds: 04
